Members Services
Below is a summary of our services, but we are discussing more and will be adding to these over the coming months – we will keep members updated regularly.

Representation |
|
• |
BHB Industry Group (representing sponsors interests in the Industry)
|
|
• |
BHB VAT Scheme Registration Group (sponsored racehorse owners and breeders are able to claim VAT back on their racehorse purchases and training expenses). The scheme is worth £20m to the industry and if the Government were to remove it the whole industry would suffer a devastating reverse of fortune, with jobs lost and income significantly reduced. The knock on effect would reach sponsors as owners and breeders reduce their stock or cease involvement in racing.
|
|
• |
Racecourse Association Sponsorship Advisory Group (dealing with any sponsorship issues and activities that effect the racecourses and sponsors)
|
|
• |
The BHB
British Horseracing Consumer Committee (BRCC) which looks at
all aspects of racing from the various consumer perspectives. |
Members Dinners
Three times a year the HSA organise a dinner for members and members’ guests. This is an excellent networking event and we always invite a topical speaker. Recent speakers have included John Greenway, Joint Chair of the All Party Racing Group, and David Thorpe, Chairman of the Racecourse Association.
Consultancy Services
Members are invited to call Nigel Payne or Mary-Ann Sandercock for advice on sponsorship
best practice or various sponsorship issues – guidance on organising sponsorship or sourcing a suitable property.
Guide to Arranging Successful Race Sponsorship
Members receive a free step by step guide to organising race sponsorship detailing the considerations a sponsor should take to maximise the value of their sponsorship.
Sample Sponsorship Agreements
These are available free of charge to members. A contract is obviously very important and the sample agreements are a useful tool to property rights holders as well as sponsors, providing them with details of the areas that an agreement should cover.
Sponsorship Analysis Reports
Until now these reports were exclusively produced by the Racecourse Association for their members. From 2007 they are available to HSA members at a discounted rate. They include sponsorship analysis by business sector, race code, tv sponsorship analysis, lists of top sponsors by number of races and race value, attendance data and much more.
The reports are normally £350.00 + VAT per annum – this is for 12 monthly reports and an annual overview, but HSA members can subscribe to the report for £250.00 + VAT. Please contact Mary-Ann Sandercock (please visit our contact us page) if you would like further details.
RCA Badges and Carpark Labels
All HSA members receive an RCA car park label and HSA members that are sponsoring to the value of £100,000 per annum or more are entitled to two RCA badges providing access to all race meetings with the exception of the John Smith’s Grand National meeting, Royal Ascot and the King George meeting at Ascot)
Brandwagon
The HSA are looking to resurrect the quarterly newsletter Brandwagon, which provides topical editorial on sponsorship matters as well as pictorial examples of sponsorships in that period. We are looking to cover the costs of the newsletter production through sponsorship. Brandwagon has a much wider distribution than just the HSA membership; it is distributed to all racecourses, industry bodies and senior racing press via an insertion with the RCA’s monthly newsletter UPDATE. The Brandwagon sponsor’s support would be very evident in the newsletter and on this website. For further information about the Brandwagon sponsorship please contact Mary-Ann Sandercock
(please visit our contact us page).
