Racing UK
History Racing UK was established by a number of large racecourses in response to the termination on 29 March 2004 of the Media Rights Agreement under which 49 of the UK's racecourses granted their media rights to attheraces Plc, a venture owned by BSkyB, Channel 4 and Arena Leisure. The principle aim at the time was to establish a TV channel owned by the racecourses, broadcasting UK racing to homes within the UK and Ireland, as attheraces had done prior to 29 March 2004. Racing UK was successfully launched on 29 May 2004, with 30 racecourses as shareholders, sharing its channel location with iSport on channel 425 on the Sky digital platform.
On 16 July 2004, Racing UK announced its intention to move to its own channel location on 1 September 2004, and to re-launch as a subscription-only channel at the beginning of October 2004.
